Lilly's italian words

On the plane home.

When we were in Rome, Lilly spent all day at an italian day care where very few people spoke any English at all. They say she spoke italian to them. When she came home, she would refuse to speak italian to us- sometimes insisting on the English names for things (mom: "il cane" Lilly: "DOG!). She would even come up with new English words I had never heard her use before.

There are a few italian words that she has let loose in public. "Aiuta!" is her favorite, used liberally. Others: ciao, si, gatto, ballo, giro, pizza, pasta, l'aqua, pesce, arancia. The babysitter heard her say the word for parrot, and David heard her say "non voglio."
